Police Department

A top priority of all Americans is a safe, secure neighborhood and environment in which they are able to pursue their life goals and amibitions free from the encumbrances of criminal elements. Rapid societal changes challenge the traditional role of law enforcement as crime fighter and law enforcer. Today, law enforcement must transcend its traditional role and utilize mutual problem solving and community based strategies to maximize crime prevention and crime control.

The mission of this Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in our community by working cooperatively with the public to preserve the peace, enforce the laws, prevent crime, reduce fear and provide for a safe community.

We remain committed, as a team, to ensure the citizens of Cape Charles a safe, secure environment and establish our agency as one of the finest in Virginia.

What is Identity Theft?

The Federal Trade Commission estimates that as many as 9 million Americans have their identities stolen each year. Identity theft occurs when someone uses your personally identifying information, such as your name, Social Security number or credit card number, without your permission to commit fraud or other crimes.

The Town of Cape Charles has held several seminars to help citizens learn how to protect themselves and their personal information from identity theft.
