Maintenance Work in Playground
We are moving forward with plans to replace much of the playground equipment in Central Park. We have completed evaluation of the proposals received and narrowed the competition down to two equipment vendors. A recommendation for contract award based on best value will be made to the Town Council in December. We anticipate delivery of the new equipment in late January. The following equipment/structures will be removed: music wall, wood climbing wall, wood locomotive, monkey bars, embedded tires, wood play structure. The Public Works Department plans to begin this work the week of November 9. The mulch will also be re-graded at that time. The playground will be closed for about a week during this process. The play structure will remain in place until delivery of the new equipment. The following equipment will remain: zip line, swings, spring toys, tractor tire swing. A plaque will be installed to recognize the donors of both the original and new equipment.
We have had a wonderful fund raising response for this project, but still need a significant amount to complete it this winter and avoid having to phase some of it to next summer/fall.
