Harbor Assistant (Seasonal Part Time - April 1st to September 15th)

The Town of Cape Charles is currently seeking applications for a seasonal part time employee for Harbor Assistant. Applicant will assist with fueling, cleaning, cash sales, docking and maintenance.  Requirements:  Must have computer knowledge of Windows and MS Word.  Must be available to work weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays.  Must be able to lift 50 lbs.  Must pass physical and drug screening upon hiring. Knowledge of boat and harbor safety practices and experience in sales preferred.  A valid VA driver’s license is required.  Starting salary $9.00 per hour, from 24 - 32 hours per week.  Applications can be downloaded below.  Submit completed town application to Town Clerk, 2 Plum Street, Cape Charles, VA 23310 no later than March 12, 2010.

Cape Charles is Looking for a Few Good Volunteers!

The Town of Cape Charles is seeking two (2) citizens of the Town who are interested in volunteering their time in assisting their community for the following Commission / Board:

Planning Commission –One (1) citizen needed
The Planning Commission serves as an advisory body to the Town Council for planning-related matters. The Planning Commission's responsibilities include reviewing Zoning Ordinance amendments, Comprehensive Plan amendments, conditional use permit applications, and rezoning applications. Regular sessions are held the first Tuesday of every month at 6:00 PM. Public hearings and work sessions are scheduled on an as-needed basis.

Harbor Area Review Board-One (1) citizen needed
This is the latest addition to the Town of Cape Charles’ Commission & Boards. The purpose of the Harbor Area Review Board is to review and make recommendations to the Town regarding architectural designs on the developments in and around the Town’s Harbor. Regular sessions are held the third Thursday of every month at 6:00 PM.

Wetlands / Coastal Dunes Board - One (1) citizen needed
The Wetlands and Coastal Dune Board reviews applications for certain activities in wetlands and dune areas. Meetings are scheduled on an as-needed basis. The Town's Wetlands Ordinance can be found in Appendix E of the Zoning Ordinance. The Coastal Primary Sand Dune Ordinance can be found in Appendix C of the Zoning Ordinance.

Building Code Board of Appeals - One (1) citizen needed
The Building Code Board of Appeals hears appeals concerning the Uniform Statewide Building Code. Meetings are scheduled on an as-needed basis.

Library Board - One (1) citizen needed
The Library Board oversees the Cape Charles Memorial Library.
